In Liferay Theme creation, the main process is same as the Layout Template Creation Process. Here in Liferay-Eclipse IDE 1> Create a new Liferay Project. 2> Select "Theme" radio button for this. 3> On clicking finish we will have the Default Theme project 4> When we build the "all" target in the Ant Build file, all the required files for a default theme will be created. 5> We have some places where we can change the Default CSS or styles in the theme. A> /docroot/css/custom.css is such a file where the default styles of the portal can be overridden. B>We can add other css files in places for the whole portal project in main.css file The syntax will be - @import url(our_css.css); C> Extra CSS files can be included in the "css" folder. 6> All the required extra js files can be attached in "js" folder. These js files will be available in the whole portal project where this particular theme will be attached. 7> Also we have experimented with the Style changes in Velocity Template files which are in /docroot/templates folder. We have experimented with portlet.vm, portal_normal.vm and portal_pop_up.vm But for this change, one should be accustomed with Velocity Markup Language.
